Robert D checks in with some toothy critters

Robert D. - not a striper! Another Toothy Critter!

On the left, Robert D. and his father (also Robert) show off a pair of Tiger fish caught in the Zambezi River. Dad's is 9.5 lbs, Robert Jr's is 13 lbs. Note the tail part missing from Robert Jr's fish - Tiger Fish are a favorite food of the Nile Crocodiles that live in the River! They may look like striped bass from a distance, but these fish can take a pretty good chunk out of you if you aren't careful!

Smile!

Jim S. thought he'd try dragging a line or two behind the boat as they sailed from SF to Hawaii - here's a few of his photos from the trip:

Jim S - Mahi Mahi

"I'm not sure if you remember me, but I came into the San Rafael store, late June. I sailed to Hawaii from SF 7/3/02 on a 36' sailboat. You set me up with topwater gear that we used while dragging a line across the Pacific, also had a rod/reel. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!! We ate VERY well thanks to you!!!! and our cook. We caught 6 Albacore, largest about 40lbs and at least 10 MahiMahi. We hooked into "Something" in the Molakai Channel, fought it over an hour while still cruising at 6-8 knots. We never saw it, but it sure was BIG. It would take off on runs, while we were still doing 6 knots. Locals think it might have been an Ono."

Mike S. from our Santa Rosa store got a number of nice trips in during the past year -
here is a beautiful rainbow hooked and released on in the canyons of Colorado.

Ok, at this point, most of the other folks who work in the shop are getting jealous - Mike S. from our Santa Rosa store shows us the scenery he had to put up with in Christmas Island...

Not to mention those pesky bonefish...Good job Mike!

Carlo Tarpon Where? Carlo prepares to take airm for some tarpon during a recent trip to Florida.

Although he didn't turn up any of the monsters, he did find a little wriggling friend in the underbrush -

Florida Cotton Mouth
Yep, for those of you with keen eyes, that is a genuine Florida Cotton Mouth - also known as a Water Moccasin - Note: do NOT try this yourself!
