What we Stock - Fly Fishing Department

Alaska River Over countless seasons afield, customers and employees have used the gear we stock and reported back on how well they have withstood the challenges of real-world use. (If you have some experiences to report, email us at feedback@westernsportshop.com). Based on that track record, we decide what stays in the store. Time-tested gear is the cornerstone of our wide selection. When the conditions are just right, the hatch is coming off, and your casts are dropping right where you want them to be, you just want to concentrate on the moment at hand.

Most people new to fly fishing are overwhelmed by the choices before them. At Western Sport Shop, we make it as simple as you want it to be, with balanced outfits for almost anyone's budget. Of course, if you want to tweak every detail of your fly tackle, we'll be right there with you as well.

We carry fly rods from Sage, Scott, Redington, St. Croix, R.L. Winston, Cortland and G. Loomis. We'll be more than happy to advise which combination of line weight and rod action will be the best for your type of fishing. Fly reels come in all types of sizes and designs, and our staff has the expertise to recommend the right setup for your needs. Choose from models by Sage, Scientific Angler, Ross Reels, Abel, Tibor, Pate, Galvan, G. Loomis and Waterworks/Lamson. We'll be happy to set up your new reel with fly lines from Cortland, Scientific Anglers Mastery Series, RIO, Sage, Teeny and leaders from Umpqua, Scientific Angler or RIO. If any of those aren't quite what you are looking for, let us know. We'd be happy to special order anything to cover your specific needs.

There's no reason to be uncomfortable while you are fishing. We've made a serious commitment to proper clothing and wading gear. From insulating layers to waterproof shells, choose just what you need from our broad selection: Columbia and Simms Wonderwick underwear, Simms waders in Gore-Tex or neoprene, LaCrosse waders in both booted and stocking foot designs, shirts and jackets designed for fly fishing by Simms, Columbia and Filson. Keep organized on the stream with fly vests from Columbia and Simms, or tackle packs from Fishpond, Simms, Abel, Sage and more.

As you would expect, we also stock several models of float tubes and pontoon crafts, clippers, nippers, wading staffs, wading boots, polarized optics, gear bags, fly rod luggage and dozens upon dozens of flies.
